Limiting their ability to park would sharply reduce foot traffic and hurt already fragile small businesses. Merchants fear this could lead to declining sales, business closures, and a loss of the island's unique character. Additionally, restricting beach parking to residents would make public beach access nearly impossible for non-residents, a move many call exclusionary. The community is urging the commissioners to reconsider and seek a balanced solution that supports both residents and local commerce.
